Health eCard secures £900,000 funding to expand its Personal Medical Records business.
Dr. David Krasner together with husband and wife team Jul & Elaine Kornbluth announced that the company has raised ?900,000 from the management team, London Business Angel members and other investors. The money will be used to expand the software development, for marketing to both NHS and private GP practices and paying down of debt.
The Health eCard, developed since 2006, allows patients to have their complete medical records in a secure and encrypted format on a smart credit card. The card is always available in case of emergencies and can be used to assist in consultations with specialists or hospital treatment. The Health eCard allows patients with a medical condition to travel anywhere in the world and be confident that they will receive the appropriate treatment. Unnecessary repeated tests or cancelled appointments become a thing of the past. Health eCard Chairman Elaine Kornbluth commented that medical records have come into the limelight with the NHS ?12.5bn National Programme for IT. It is accepted that having medical records to hand saves costs to the NHS, and alleviates inconvenience and suffering for the patient. It could even save lives. Some serious errors in medical records have already come to light because for the first time patients could read their records at home.
