At London Business Angels we have been successfully helping companies raise equity finance since 1982; our approach to raising finance is long established and well respected. We are a quality rather than quantity network, seeking out only the most innovative fast growth businesses for our discerning investors.
We receive up to 1000 business plans each year from entrepreneurs looking for equity investment to grow their businesses. We carefully review each of these, selecting 40-50 of the most innovative businesses to present to our investors.
Selected companies will formally pitch their investment proposition to our investors at one of LBA's Company Presentation Events which take place throughout the year in central London; normally six companies present to the LBA investor community at each event.
Although we are based in London we are interested in any UK based opportunity, as long as it fits with our stringent investment criteria below. Please note that we now offer one to two slots per company presentation event to companies which meet the paramters of the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/d/seed_enterprise_investment_scheme.pdf). Our investment criteria are less stringent for SEIS eligible companies which have the potential for explosive growth and where there is scope for another funding round to apply

In return for a negotiable equity stake.

Apart from property and film/events. We have a particular focus on technology (web/mobile/software, medtech, cleantech) and consumer goods/services.
A significant and growing addressable market, and an international expansion strategy if appropriate.
High Growth Business
With an innovative and scalable business model.
Sustainable competitive advantage
A clear competitive advantage, scalability and high barriers to entry, for example through intellectual property protection or exclusive commercial arrangements.
Potential for explosive growth
Your company should have the potential to become a market leader in the near term.
Strong management team
An experienced management team with relevant operational/sector experience.
Validation within the market place
Can be taken to market with little or no further development
Past the initial concept stage or for hi-tech investments beyond ‘Proof of Concept’.
Seeking an Exit in the medium term
Normally via acquisition/trade sale of stock market flotation, generating a significant return for both company directors and investors.
